When you think about it, our brain is the control center of our body... pretty much in charge of the way we feel, think, talk, hear, breathe, etc... aka, huge responsibility!
What we eat directly provides our brain’s primary energy source.
One of the hardest parts of eating healthy in a way that is intentionally good for our brain is coming up with new recipe ideas. There are plenty online, but very few are explicitly created with brain health in mind.
While no magic food will suddenly take your brain power from 0 to 100 overnight, some foods may help you focus at the moment, and improve certain health aspects, such as Reishi.
First things first, what’s Reishi?
Reishi mushroom is most frequently grown on oak trees and has been used traditionally for centuries in East Asia to treat infections and improve the body's health.
Recently, scientists and herbal doctors have studied the benefits of reishi mushroom powder in the western world, leading to its increasing popularity worldwide.
If you’re someone like me who is looking to prep your brain to succeed, you’ll love these tips on which foods you can add to your routine.
Let's break it down and boost our brain power with this healthy collection of recipes that will promote good concentration, and energy and even help us sleep better.
Okay, time to dive into the recipes!
One recipe to kick off our morning, and one recipe to finish off our day and prepare for a good night's sleep.
#1 Reishi Morning Golden milk

Ingredients for Reishi Morning Golden Milk
1/2 cup of coconut milk
3/4 cup almond milk
1/2 honey (or favorite sweetener)
1/2 coconut oil
1 teaspoon OMG Turmeric powder
1 cinnamon stick
small pinch of black pepper and grated ginger
1/2 tsp OMG Reishi mushroom powder
1/2 tsp OMG Ashwagandha powder
Directions for Reishi Morning Golden Milk
To a small saucepan, add coconut milk, almond milk, turmeric, grated ginger, cinnamon stick, coconut oil, black pepper, Ashwagandha, Reishi, and the sweetener of your choice.
Whisk to combine and warm over medium heat. Heat until hot to the touch but not boiling, about 3-4 minutes, whisking the whole time.
Turn off the heat and taste to adjust the sweetness level.
Take out the cinnamon stick; if you like it very smooth, you can strain the golden milk to take out the ginger pieces.
